IOWA! The corn, pork, and soybean state. Heartland of America. Most importantly, my home.

The name Iowa comes from the Ioway people. Its capital is Des Moines. I don't think it is the Capitial of Idawahio though. By the way that state is so massive it takes up three states!

What the people are like

I'm sure you've heard of it. Iowa's kindness is rivaled only by southern hospitality and Montana nice. An Iowan is the kind of guy to open the door for you. If you have heard myths of alcholism they are true. I've known multiple people who start drinking before they finished high school. I don't approve of course, but it's there. Southern Iowans have a interesting way of saying wash (WAR-SH). We have a lot of old gray barns. And guys becareful if you marry an Iowan, cause Iowan women never leave the heartland.

History:

Originally a french settlement, Iowa was bought in the Louisiana Purchase. I would say that's why our flag looks like France's, but It's not completely white. Iowa Served in the civil war under the union. (YEAH WE ARE YANKIES!) There was a strange honey tree war that happened at the border to Missori.

Politics

I'm not sure if i'd call iowa a purple state. It deffinately has it's liberal campas in Ames, and on the borders. But besides that, I don't see many liberals. Nonetheless Obama did win Iowa in his first campaign. Abortion is frowned upon mostly. Gun ownership is at roughly 33%. With hunters, and farmers owning a good chunk of that. Des Moines crime rate is rising sadly. I do not know what the cause is. Gangs are likely a contributing factor. My prayers go out to the good officers keeping the law.

Iowa ethnicity is mostly white(German and Irish), and Asian(Korean, and Chinese) blacks. Latinos are rising in the minority for good farm jobs. Blacks Asians are there too, but mostly in the cities. The reason why there is so many Asians is because Iowa took in refugees after the Korean and Vietnam wars. Obviously the whites came here by wagon trains during the 1800s.

Iowan Weather is the best of all the states. In the winter it is too cold, in the summer it is scolding hot. In the spring it rains hard, plus the flooding. I would say autumn is the most normal, we just have tornados. 2008 was a record breaker for floods. 1/30/2019-4:00am broke 1965 record for the lowest tempature. -40 (-20 minus wind chill)
